AKI Partner Organization, Bam Animal Clinics-Uganda, trains donkey owners to make and use humane sisal saddles to protect donkeys when carrying heavy loads. Bam also holds free donkey vet clinics for working donkeys. Luckily, this man showed up at a vet clinic with his donkey, who had been sliced with a machete by the neighbor, who was chasing the donkey off his property. The Bam team cleaned the wound and stitched it up. The donkey left almost as good as new. Animal-Kind International supports Bam's donkey welfare work.

At the Twala Trust sanctuary in Zimbabwe, there is a group of older dogs, the Waggley Tail Club. Many of them were surrendered to Twala because their families realized that Twala could provide better care for their older dog than they could. Animal-Kind International supports Twala's Waggley Tail Club with meds, food, repairs to their living quarters, and those nice cozy, warm doggy houses (you can see them and the waggley tails in the video).

It was a busy Doggy Tuesday in January, but Twala Trust volunteers were ready, as was Animal-Kind International's Pet Food Fund, which provides the food for the hungry doggies at Doggy Tuesday and some takeaway goodies to enjoy later at home until the next Doggy Tuesdsay.

Animal-Kind International supports the 6 Freedoms Horse Care Teams on their visits to Accra's informal stables. In this video, they are visiting several stables, some for the 1st time. In follow-up visits, they will help with de-wormers, hoof trimming (farrier services), nutritional supplements, and more.

A 2025 grant from Animal-Kind International to Starting Over Sanctuary in Israel was used to construct one of these large tent-sheds to house ~100 donkeys and horses. All the animals at SOS were rescued from abusive situations and at SOS have been able to recover and heal, emotionally and physically. The rescued horses and donkeys are finally able to be free from pain and enjoy freedom.

Animal Smile Tanzania is a 2025/2026 Animal Welfare Organization Grant recipient. With the grant from Animal-Kind International, over a 6-month period, they are teaching good animal welfare and care practices. And most importantly, they are giving the 30 paravet students in the course hands-on practice in rescue and community animal health care, something that the students don't normally get in their paravet training courses. The aim is to not only help develop paravet professionals, but also create a stronger cadre of animal welfare advocates in Tanzania. This video shows the training and learning experiences.

Here's Blacky's story from Marylin, director of our 2025/2026 Animal Welfare Grantee, Fondation Alliance Verte in Haiti: "We want to thank Animal-Kind International for their help! In September 2025, they helped us vaccinate sixty dogs. Blacky was among the sixty dogs vaccinated that day and, recently, they helped us with Blacky’s vet bill. Blacky is very special to us! It’s been two years since we know him from our neighborhood. We have been helping caring for him since his owner does not have the means. Blacky was badly injured when he was hit by a car and it’s six days later that we found out when we did not see him and asked for him. Amputation was needed asap. We could not come up with the amount for the surgery and the 16 days of hospitalization. Animal Kind International, generously, steped in and covered the vet bill. Thank you very much for your trust in our work and for your support. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone who has been supporting us! Alone we would have not been able to do it."

Monique has been volunteering at the Sauvons nos Animaux shelter since 2022. But with the war, she had to stop visiting the shelter, it was no longer safe. In September 2025, she returned to the shelter and was reunited with Malou, one of her favorite shelter residents.
