Tanzania Small Animal Veterinary Organization, TASAVO, is a 3-time AKI grant recipient. With each grant, their TNVR efforts and community attitudes toward street cats and dogs improve. For their 2025 grant project they spayed/neutered 344 cats and dogs to prevent overpopulation of street animals and the cruelty that often goes with that. A CAUTION: THIS VIDEO SHOWS A DOG WITH A VERY BAD TICK INFESTATION. TASAVO treated the dog at their clinic, and gave him a strong tick/flea preventative (vet care is also part of their AKI grant).

Liberia Animal Welfare & Conservation Society's Humane Education Program teaches compassion and kindness to animals. Their students have gotten the message as you can see from Frederick and his relationship with his dog, Be Careful. AKI supports the LAWCS Humane Ed Program at 10 schools in Zorzor, reaching 1000s of students a year.

Blind Love in South Africa is a three-time AKI Animal Welfare Grantee. After a fire ripped through the Blind Love sanctuary in January 2026, the pasture was burned and some sanctuary infrastructure was destroyed. The two top priorities were to repair the boundary fence and buy food for the 12 horses and 26 donkeys, most of whom had suffered some form of neglect/abuse in their past (none were injured in the fire). Two of the horses at the sanctuary are 100% blind, another was born with wry face and only has one eye. Animal-King International gave a top-up grant to Blind Love and they bought oat hay and teff to keep the donkeys and horses well-fed until the pasture grows back.

Deborah saw a shih tzu poodle mix, a little fella, running down the street in the pouring rain. He was close to a busy highway with speeding cars. Deborah said: "I didn't give him much hope he was in and out of the road looking scared and frantic. I had to try anyway. I made every effort to coax him towards a quiet side road. It worked! But he ran off down that road as well and into the Forestry department compound. He hid under a van and eluded me again running back towards the busy main road!! I lost sight of him but as I drove i kept stopping to ask by standers if they saw him most saying yes and pointing down the road. For a little guy he was fast!!! Eventually a man told me he ran into used car lot. I asked the security guard to PLEASE close the gate and he did. Hope he didn't lose his job for locking out possible customers!! By now I was so tired and exhausted from the chase which by now had reached its second hour. Yes that's how long i was chasing this little guy !!! Finally he got himself caught behind some building supplies so I paid 2 guys to help me box him in We finally caught him. He spent 2 days at the vet (he was fine minor bruises and scratches) and then in 24 hrs I found the perfect home for Stormy. I posted him on several groups and LOST DOGS groups also in the meantime hoping to find his owner. Nobody came forward so STORMY now lives with his new owner Gregory who loves and adores him!! The end 😃..and what an end for sweet stormy!!!

On March 20, the USPCA brought more dogs from the old Haven to the new and spacious site near Kajjansi. Slowly, slowly the dogs are being transferred. We can't wait to begin building the new cattery so the cats can be moved from the old location to the new.

Animal-Kind International grantee, Rivadeneira Sterilization Center, went door to door, visiting homes in rural areas in La Chima, sector Ripio prior to holding a sterilization day there (with the AKI grant). They checked on the dogs and cats at the homes, explained the process of sterilization, and signed the pets up. The video shows the general area and the team's visits to three homes with dogs. AKI Partner Organization, Bam Animal Clinics-Uganda, trains donkey owners to make and use humane sisal saddles to protect donkeys when carrying heavy loads. Bam also holds free donkey vet clinics for working donkeys. Luckily, this man showed up at a vet clinic with his donkey, who had been sliced with a machete by the neighbor, who was chasing the donkey off his property. The Bam team cleaned the wound and stitched it up. The donkey left almost as good as new. Animal-Kind International supports Bam's donkey welfare work.

At the Twala Trust sanctuary in Zimbabwe, there is a group of older dogs, the Waggley Tail Club. Many of them were surrendered to Twala because their families realized that Twala could provide better care for their older dog than they could. Animal-Kind International supports Twala's Waggley Tail Club with meds, food, repairs to their living quarters, and those nice cozy, warm doggy houses (you can see them and the waggley tails in the video).
