The One & Only Animal Sanctuary in Ghana gives kittens space

The One & Only Animal Sanctuary in Ghana, located in Gomoa East District, Kasoa, Central Region, rescues abandoned, stray, and vulnerable animals from unsafe environments; provides daily care including feeding, cleaning, shelter, and basic well-being support; provides basic veterinary care; and rehabilitates injured, sick, and traumatized animals.
Their AKI grant project, The One & Only Hope, aimed to build a safe space for rescued kittens to reduce overcrowding in the shelter. As the only sanctuary in Ghana, and one that focuses on kittens and cats, it's no wonder they get overcrowded.
Over the last three years, the One & Only Animal Sanctuary has rescued and cared for more than 125 cats who were abandoned, injured, sick, or at risk on the streets. Many came to the sanctuary in poor condition and needed urgent feeding, treatment, and a safe place to stay.
The rescued kittens needed more space to be able to play like kittens, for protection from stress and illness, and for their overall health and well-being. We agreed and awarded The One & Only Animal Sanctuary in Ghana a grant to build a spacious pen for kittens.
The One & Only Animal Sanctuary reaches beyond their shelter, helping to create more awareness about animal welfare in their community by encouraging compassionate treatment of stray animals and connecting with people who are willing to support rescue and care. The One & Only Sanctuary is improving animals' lives at their shelter, within their community, and even reaching beyond, throughout Ghana.
