The goal of Triglav Trust's grant project was:
To create a safe, dry, and warm space for the rescued cats in the sanctuary.
Prior to this grant project, even during the lightest rain, the water ran into the catteries at all the roof nails, as well as where the roof sheets overlapped, and the catteries would completely flood. Triglav desperately want to improve the lives of their rescued kitties and the funding from Animal-Kind International allowed them to do just that.
The improvements to the Triglav Trust cattery were completed in January.
Triglav placed roof sheeting over the entire cattery to make the roof watertight against rain.
Once the roof sheeting was installed, they placed Isoboard ceiling panels to the inside/underside of the roof to insulate the catteries from the extreme heat and cold temperatures during the day and night.
Triglav also placed insulation panels in the walls of one of the cat shacks that has walls of metal sheeting. Windhoek temperatures can get very low in the winter and very high in the summer, and metal sheeting of course is not ideal under these circumstances.
But now the rescued cats who reside at the Triglav Trust-Namibia sanctuary will be much more comfortable! The catteries and sleeping houses are now fully waterproof and the cats are protected against extreme temperatures. Triglav even noticed that the areas are so much more comfortable for their volunteers who clean the cattery and play with the cats! Our grant to Triglav has made everyone happy!
